Catholic Faith Challenge

The St. Joseph’s Catholic Faith Challenge is a quiz bowl style team competition open to Middle School Students. There are four rounds of head to head team competition consisting of toss-up and bonus questions, and one written test. The team with the most points at the end of the Challenge is the champion.

 

Objectives:

The objectives of the St. Joseph’s CF Challenge are:

• to build Catholic school community

• to foster excitement about learning the faith

• to impart a wider breadth and depth of Catholic knowledge than is often available to a normal Religious Education curriculum

• to equip young Catholics to have ready answers to questions about their faith

• to have a great time

 

Preparation:

Questions encompass Scripture, Church history, lives of the saints, the Sacraments and sacramentals, liturgy, church terminology and Latin phrases, doctrines, and more.

 

To prepare for this fast-paced challenge, students should study together with their coach before and after school, and commit to self-study of:

• The official St. Joseph’s CFC Question Packet

• New St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism Number 2 (ISBN 089942242X)

• Picture Book of Saints  by Rev. Lovasik (ISBN 0899422357)

• Golden Children’s Bible (ISBN 0307165205)

 

These books may be purchased inexpensively at any good Catholic bookstore (e.g. Blessed on First in Kennewick) or online.

 

Registration:

All forms and payment must be completed in full and be postmarked by the deadlines to be accepted.

Early bird registration, $80 per team is January 15, 2017

Normal registration final deadline, $90 per team is February 6, 2017.
