I graduated from WSU in 1997 with a BA in Political Science and from Heritage University in 1999 with a Secondary Education Certification with endorsements in Social Studies, English, and Government/Civics. I am also currently seeking my endorsement in General Music Education and am super passionate about teaching kids to love and appreciate music. This will be my 11th school year as a staff member of St. Joseph School.

Science inspires students to understand complex ideas through simple and relatable concepts.

History- Ancient Civilizations

In 6th grade history we study ancient civilizations and the world through 1750. Using the interactive and robust "History Alive” curriculum, we will study the foundations of history, explore the rise of civilization, and dive deep into individual ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Kush, Rome, The Americas ,India, Japan, China, Greece, Europe, The Middle East, Africa, and more. We will study the geography of the regions, their social structures, economies and political systems.

Math

  • Fractions, Decimals, Pre-Algebra, Ratio, Proportion, Measurement, Geometry and Statistics.

  • Astronomy, Atmosphere, Weather, Meteorology, Ecosystems, Cells, Animal forms, Biology of Plants – Classification, Physics – force and motion.

  • Grammar and punctuation, along with a variety of writing units including Creative Writing, Poetry, Business Letters, Narratives, Essays, and more.

  • Novels, reading and learning skills such as summarizing, note-taking, and evaluating literature.  Important elements such as plot, character, setting and theme are discussed, as well as learning new vocabulary and understanding figures of speech (simile, metaphor, hyperbole, etc.)

  • World geography, Ancient civilizations and Library studies.

  • Old Testament and Christ as the fulfillment of God’s promises
