As members of the St. Joseph’s Catholic School community, we are called not only to provide a strong academic and spiritual foundation for our children but also to lead by example, living out the virtues of generosity, service, and fellowship. Together, we have the incredible opportunity to model for our children what it means to give of our time, talents, and treasures, creating a culture of service that reflects the love of Christ.
Volunteering is not just about completing tasks; it’s about building a stronger, more connected community. When we come together to share our gifts, we inspire our children and show them that by working together, we can achieve great things. Whether it’s planning a school event, supporting classroom activities, or helping maintain our campus, your contribution makes a lasting impact on the St. Joseph’s family.
This year, we are blessed with many opportunities to serve, and we need your help! Below is a list of committees and activities where our school would be thankful to benefit from some of your time and talents. Each of these roles is essential to the success of our school.

Here are some important forms we need you to fill out when you become a volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic School.

Fill out the Virtus Online Training form and turn it into the school office. You will then be assigned a virtual training that you can complete online.
IMPORTANT VIRTUS & BACKGROUND CHECK INFO: Current Diocese policy requires that VIRTUS Training & Background checks are renewed every 6 years. If you are unsure about your current VIRTUS and Background check status, please reach out to the office and they can provide you a status.
*Any volunteers who work directly with children are REQUIRED to have had Diocesan Virtus training. You can contact our school office at (509) 586-0481 to find out when the next training is.

It takes a village and our Mustangs show up! Below is a list of school activities and initiatives that rely on volunteer support. Use it as inspiration to find opportunities to get involved and knock out those service hours along the way.
Service Hours
Why do we have service hours and volunteering requirements? - Educating students at St. Joseph Catholic School costs well over $8,500 per year per child and expenses are rising every year. Tuition is considerably less than that amount. This difference is made up by Parish and supporter contributions and by our parents and community members volunteering to help raise funds and to provide services for the school. It is through our parent volunteer efforts that our community not only raises funds, but creates a unified and loving community. Please take advantage of volunteer opportunities. You will not only provide for a better education for all our students, but you will create family friendships that will last a lifetime. Please see pages 22 and 23, for obligatory service hours, fees and stipulations.
While enrolling a child at St. Joseph Catholic School, a parent agrees to give 30 hours of service to the school and pay all tuition fees. Parents, who do not wish to give Service Hours to the school, agree to pay at the rate of $35.00 per hour for hours not fulfilled.
• 30 Hours or $1050.00 per family for students in Grades Kindergarten thru 8th
• 15 Hours or $525.00 per family for students in Preschool
At least 50% of your hours are to be committed to a capital project i.e. Art and Wine, Fun Run, Scrip, Yard Sale, or other approved fundraising for major school projects.
This program is designed to provide our children with the best possible benefits, and to help our school run smoothly by getting everyone involved in the effort to build community. Parents are required to work the stated hours. All exceptions need to be presented to the Principal before the event. A substitute needs to be a member of the family, 21 years of age or older.
Each family is responsible for keeping their own records current in FACTS for the service hours. You can see the visual displayed below which provides a map on where you can enter your service hours.
Record keeping begins after the last day of the current school year and ends on the last day of the next school year. Any hours turned in after the last day of school will count towards the next school year.
Some positions and activities may guarantee an automatic 30 hours: Fundraising Event Chairpersons, PTO Members, and School Advisory Council.
Service hours will not be given for donated materials.
